Brotherly Love

I just wanted to let everyone know, that Ace is such a GREAT big brother. When I was pregnant with Aidan, I was a little worried about how Ace would react to a little brother. But, he just loves Aidan so much. Ace loves to help Mommy, change Aidan's diaper, he loves to put the pacifier in Aidan's mouth when he cries, if Aidan is crying....Ace will walk up to him and say "Shhh, no crying Aidan", or he will come up to me and say "Mommy, Aidan crying". Whenever I am sitting on the couch with Aidan, Ace loves to come and sit next to us, and he always wants to hold him :o) There have been a few times that Ace has been a little rough. The other night Aidan was on the floor, having tummy time and Ace was running around in circles, and he fell onto of Aidan. We just had to explain to him, that he had to be careful around his little brother. But the scary incident was yesterday morning. We were all in my room, getting ready for the day and out of the corner of my eye, I see Ace picking Aidan up, and before I could get there, he dropped him. He didn't mean any harm by it, he just wanted to pick his brother up. So we need to really keep our eyes on the two of them. Today, while we were driving in the car, Ace was talking and talking and talking....about what, I really couldn't tell you, but somewhere in the middle of his mumble jumble, I heard him say " I love you Aidan". My heart just melted :o) I am really happy that Ace loves his brother and that he is such a big boy. Just thought I would share some of those stories.

Aidan's 2 month Check Up

Today Aidan had his 2 month check up. He now weighs 13 lbs and he is 22 1/2 inches long. He is such a BIG boy now :o( Can't believe that it has already been 2 months. Time sure does fly. His appointment went rather good. The doctor thinks that he might have some reflux, which could be resulting in some of the feeding, and sleeping problems we are having. So she prescribed some medicine for that. Aidan is also favoring his right side of his head, so when you sit him up, his head flops to the right, she explained that he is not using his left side muscles and gave me some tips to try and improve this problem. We have to go back in a month, and she will look at his head and his posture, and we will re-evaluate his reflux. Other than that, he is a HEALTHY baby boy. He did get 5 vaccinations today, 4 were shots, and one was the Rotavirus, which they give orally. He is now taking a little nap, he is pretty tired from all the commotion this morning.

Ace's New Funky Haircut

So this morning after a nice shower, I decided that maybe it was time for Ace to get haircut. His bangs were getting pretty long. So I decided that I would cut his hair myself, instead of paying $15 for a haircut. Well, I first started with his bangs, after trimming those down, I looked @ him, and he TOTALLY looked like a little girl :o( So I decided that he needs all of his hair cut. Well, needless to say, I didn't do a very good job. His hair is short, and is very uneven :o( I don't think that I will be cutting any of my children's hair EVER again. Some things are better left to the professionals!

A very traumatic lunch date

So today started off really good. Desi and Christian came over for a playdate and we had a good time with them. They left at around 11 o'clock. I started talking to Melissa via texts and one thing lead to another, and next thing I know we are all in car headed to CiCi's for some PIZZA :o) Well, I get out of the car, I get Ace out of the car, and head over to get Aidan out of the car. I realize that I can't get the car seat out, because the passenger seat had been pushed back, preventing me from lifting the car seat out, so I go to push the seat forward, but in order for me to accomplish that, I have to close Aidan's door to get to the front passenger door. Just as soon as I closed the door, I relized that I had lock Aidan and my keys in the car :o( I was scared to death. I tried to call my husband but I couldn't get ahold of him and I didn't know how long it would take him to get to us, so I called the non-emergency number and explained to them that I had locked my newborn baby in the car. Just as I was getting off the phone, Melissa pulls up, and I tell her everything that is going on. She takes Ace into CiCi's, just to get him out of the way. About 5 minutes pass and I see a big fire truck pulling into the parking lot. The firefighters get out, pull out some tools, and next thing you know...my door is open. I was soo thankful and soo relieved. Of course Aidan was asleep the WHOLE time, and had no idea what was going on. So needless to say we had a very eventful lunch date.

Aidan rolled over

Tonight Phil and I were sitting on the floor watching some TV, while Aidan was having some tummy time. Aidan was lifting his head, and started to act like he wanted to roll over. I looked at Phil and said "Baby, I think he is going to roll over" and Phil told me that he was to young to be rolling over. No sooner had those words left his mouth, and Aidan was on his back. He had rolled over from his tummy to his back :o) Our little baby is growing up

Reston Zoo

So today we took the family to the Reston Petting Zoo. It was a very interesting experience. We bought a lot of feed, thinking that Ace would get a kick out of feeding the animals, but he was SCARED of all the animals. He wanted nothing to do with them :o( He refused to walk, and wanted Phil to hold him the whole time. We also went on a hayride, that had to be the BEST part if the day. We drove around the grounds, while some animals would come up to the tractor to eat. The camels and emus were AWESOME, I unfortunately forgot my camera in the stroller, so we have no photos of the hayride :o( It was a very nice day as a family, but our next adventure will def have to be to the Zoo, where all the animals are behind cages, hopefully Ace will enjoy himself more there.

The little piggies were SOOOO cute :o)

Aidan's Hospital Visit

On September 29th we took Aidan to the hospital, he was running a fever of 101. Once in the ER they ran a bunch of tests on him....blood work, blood cultures, spinal taps, urine cultures, chest x-rays, etc. Since he was so young, and his fever was so high, they decided to admit us, until they could figure out was wrong with him. We were in the hospital for 4 nights and 3 days. Aidan's fever would go down one day and back up the next day. But all of his lab work was coming back negative. So the doctor explained to us, that it was more than likely just a virus, and that his little body was fighting it off. It was a very scary experience for all of us, and we are just so happy and so thankful to be home, with a healthy baby boy. I want to thank all of my friends who sent me text messages, emails, card.....and for those who came by to visit and who brought us food. We are very lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives.

One day his fever got as high as 103, so they had to strip him down, to try and bring his body heat down
He looks soooo peaceful

All ready to go home......FINALLY
